About Our Founder
Richard Dass an experienced and keen snowboarder quit the UK rat race several years ago to address the balance and satisfy his lust for travel and the mountains. He has travelled in over 50 countries and visited the ski areas in around 15 of them, across several mountain ranges and several continents, in addition to visiting the ski fields in northern India (Richard is also involved in a 'Snoventure' mountain adventure project in the Himalayas of Nepal, India and Tibet. If you want to climb Everest he's the man to ask).
His first trip to South America was in 1994. South America's diversity and culture inspired him to travel back to the region for several, more in-depth trips. He has travelled through many of the countries of South America ... from Quito to Rio, Caracas to Tierra del Fuego.
During a season spent in the high Andes of Chile & Argentina and his discovery of the excellent skiing opportunities, he decided to concentrate on this relatively unspoilt and little tapped ski region and share his knowledge and discoveries. In addition to his mountain experience Richard has guiding and mountain training from the British Association of Ski Patrollers and has covered all areas of mountain safety including avalanche awareness, recovery procedures and group management. He has also worked in Europe for the UK 's largest ski company as a snowboarding guide.
2009 will be our 9th ski season in Chile & Argentina.
Richard's background includes over ten years in corporate and customer management and more recently working for one of the World's largest tour companies, where he was employed to look after it's guests and guide groups of them to the best areas of one of Europe's most popular ski areas.
He has also undertaken work for several ski and travel companies employed on a consultancy basis, including providing the content for a travel guide to Chile.
On behalf of Snoventures Richard has also provided content for a number of travel publications and guides including Fodors, magazines and also the 'Snowboarding the World' guide for Footprint.
